ShredTheGnar In tough times, organizations that survive and eventually thrive are the ones that are able to tighten belts and push through challenges. I don't believe it wise to expand payroll at a time when market outlook is tough, we have been unable to secure new investor interest and have so far not shown much in the way of visible progress - same old website, same old talking points, very little in the way of concrete results.

I agree here.

sirthus I think this next month, you'll really start seeing some of the hard work our existing contributors are putting in.

Then let us see those hard work first before expanding payroll capacity. Talk is cheap. Show results.

That being said, I still agree to expanding the amount of KLIMA minted, up to 20%.

Joaquin It's 83 contributors across 7 departments, namely Engineering, Policy, Ops, Partnerships, Marketing, Creative and Community. From my understanding, it's meant to see it as a collective as a DAO rather than individual departments.

I think this is a good idea, as long we treat this as a temporary measure and we trend down to the 10% DAO fee as we grow larger.

KlimaDAO is very much akin to a startup right now, meaning we must expend capital in the short term to capture the majority of potential growth for the long term. I'm fine with going even higher.

for reference with dilution, since the amount in the DAO is uncirculated, it is unbacked until it is sent out of the DAO wallet (i.e it would be burnt first)

reikuman Thank you for the replay. I got confused with the table showing the # of contributors, the table displaying the compensation payments distributed in the last 4 months, right?

So 87 contributors across 7 departments are more or less 12 contributors per department. Good, now I can see clearly that the numbers are low and we should invest more in the contributors to secure Klima's goals. I support the initiative.

Would be good to understand how the proposal will impact expected runway. A little bit worried about us only having 3 months runway, would suggest we should make it such that the increase will make it the treasury inflows from bonding roughly equate to our burn rate.

On some level a reduction in mcap might at some point warrant a decrease the growth in amount of contributors involved in the project. We can't forever keep increasing our costs whilst inflows reduce.

Definitely in favor of the proposal though.

Based on Klima minting Dune it seems that the DAO rewards in approx. 3650 Klima/week if I calculate the average over 8 last weeks. And you say that 1700 Klima is used for contributor rewards. Could you open up the rest of the cost basis? Using these figures, and counting also council that I assume includes department heads?, it seems that the DAO rewards still can cover the costs using the current reward multiplier 0.1.

Number 1 reason of startup downfall is expanding the team too much and too early. Do you really need 83 contributors? Frankly that is a huge number given the results and the rate by which things are moving. Trim the fat. Coming from a developer working for a couple of startups with 5-10 people, things were moving drastically faster. Seems like you are bleeding money.

DonkeyKong It doesn't affect the protocol runway for stakers. The runway referred to here is just about how much KLIMA we have to pay contributors based on average compensation each month and the amount of revenue incoming to the treasury

nrakic90 we've stopped on boarding new contributors into the DAO for this reason and there are a good bunch that are not full time contributors. However, there are a lot of platforms to manage as well workstreams that require resources to complete! All in all we agree with you here, we want to grow but only when we need to and as we need to

babylon the increase will also include other endeavors

babylon the amount that goes to the treasury won't affect the market conditions in any major way. In fact the amount will actually unlock more capabilities for the protocol. For example, we will be able to pair Klima with gOHM to start that LP. It is important to note even with the increase in revenue we will not be paying out more.. in fact we are trying to reduce the amount of payout.

FluctusLux Contributors are paid based on their effort, output, and impact, so those who aren't being paid much are not doing as much. Those who do the most heavy lifting are getting compensated fairly for that. I believe it is very shortsighted to say that any number of contributors is too many because as a DAO we should be staffing to fill every necessary skills gap within the organization so that we can scale the quickest on every possible channel/vertical if the DAO has the need and we have the ability to properly compensate them based on working capital. Keep in mind that we also have hundreds of volunteer contributors who work with our paid contributors collaboratively to facilitate amplification of all things Klima.

If we had a 10,000-person team as productive as our 100-person team that we have now, we could move exponentially faster to save the planet and push the world quicker towards immediate and measurable climate-positive actions. When we are able to support that amount of contributors with a sustainable working capital, we would be shooting ourselves in the foot if we chose not to.

Keep in mind that the paid contributors at the DAO work for you and all the rest of the Klima investors, not just "the DAO".

json The increase 3x of DAO rewards increases dilution of stakers. In addition rewards paid out may end up to be traded against USDC thus adding sell pressure. From my simple calculation above it seems that 0.1 is well enough to sustain current activity or are you going to increase the number of people to work for DAO and how much? Some more details of plans for usage of funds in the future would be needed to assess your proposal.

Why don't we have milestone compensation for the contributors? Make their timeline and deadlines visible to the whole community and then they are compensated based on meeting those goals. I'm all for fair compensation but how do we ensure that all contributors are adding enough value to the DAO to justify their compensation?

          • REG replied to this.

ChicciNuggie we do practice that method to calculate compensation, roughly: time spent, quality of work, impact of work are the most important factors. Not all contributors get allocated the same amount. This proposal gives us capacity to maintain a high quality group of contributors as well as external agencies as necessary to increase protocol growth.

I have a few more questions here.

Does this reduce the general APY of the protocol?

Where is the Klima currently minted going? Into stakeholders? So how does this not affect stakeholder APY?

REG which external agencies are being contemplated?
